May Newsletter - Hello again! and New Shows and a New Song

Side By Side - A new song I am working on.

Hi All!

Remember me? I used to send you a newsletter once per month about music and creativity and things. I kind of pulled a disappearing act. Not on purpose - life threw some twists and turns (as life will do) and I had to put most of my focus towards some un-twisting and un-turning. But I am happy to say that things have straightened back out for the most part, and I am glad to be booking shows, writing, and am looking forward to being back out in the world playing music.

Above is a new song I started last year, and have been able to get back to over the past few months. I don't know if it's truly done, but it's close enough that I thought I'd share it. I hope you enjoy!

I have a solo show this coming Saturday, and then shows with Dave and The Sweet Janes lined up over the next few months. I hope to fill in some dates with more solo shows as well.

Thank you so much for your interest and support!

:) Kirsten

Upcoming Shows

Saturday, May 17
Kirsten solo
6:30 p.m.
North Reading, MA

I will be one of 4 performers, each doing a 30 minute set. (Another one of the 4 is the husband, Tim Foley). This is a great little coffee house, with a nice vibe and homemade goodies!

Creative Musings

Sometimes it's difficult to feel creative (see: life's twists and turns). You need energy to create, and when most of your energy has to go to other places, it's like the creative spout turns off. And that's OK, and also probably necessary in many ways.

But I learned something over the past few months. And that is that even if I just took an evening, and hour, or even a few minutes to do something, anything creative I felt a little bit more like myself. And that was a wonderful thing.

Life has seasons, and some seasons are harder than others. And many of us are feeling like the world is having a hard season right now. I know I will continue to find any bit of time I can to create, and I hope you do, too.

Good Stuff

I think I may have included the Newburyport Literary Festival in as good stuff in a previous newsletter, but I just love it so much every time I attend, I think it's worth being a repeat. I love being introduced to new books - fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. And I find it really inspiring to hear from writers about their creative processes and creative struggles. Plus Newburyport is a lovely town, and the whole festival is walkable, so it really makes for an enjoyable day. The festival is always the final weekend in April, so if this sounds like something yon want to do, mark your calendars now. :)
