O Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling... - March Newsletter
Hello all,
Everyone who wants to be is a little bit Irish on this, St. Patrick's Day. In honor of the day I have put together a virtual flute trio video of Danny Boy. Click on the photo below to view/listen. There is an Irish saying that goes "When I count my blessings, I count you twice." And that goes for all of you - I am so grateful for your interest in and support of my music. Thank you all so much!
This month I am happy to make a show announcement (more information below). I also continue to record, and hope to have some rough tracks to share with you soon. I am also keeping my fingers crossed that as the warmer weather comes there will be more opportunities to play live music. It will be so nice to see you all out in the world again!
Take good care until then,
:) Kirsten
Upcoming Show
The Sweet Janes Zoom Show - A Virtual Evening with the Sweet Janes
Saturday, April 10 at 8 p.m.
The Sweet Janes (MaryBeth Maes, Lori Wadkins and me) are putting on a zoom show. Although we can't sing and play together, we are excited to swap songs (originals and covers) and have as close to a "live" audience as we can these days. We hope you will join us! The show is free, but pre-registration is required. If you have a favorite song of ours you want to hear, please let us know.
Creative Musings
Just a quick note in creative musings this month, to tell you about a tool I love to use to get my creative juices flowing. It is this book: 642 Things to Write About.Open it to whatever page you would like and pick a prompt. They range from the ridiculous to thought provoking, and will get your pen moving across your page. And some days when you are stuck, it feels really good to get that pen moving again. Check it out. :)
Good Stuff
I am going to keep with the Irish theme in this edition of good stuff.
The movie Once is a beautiful, musical love story that takes place in Dublin, Ireland. And the soundtrack on its own is gorgeous. If you haven't seen it, please do check it out. If you're like me, and it has been years since you have seen it, maybe now is a good time to re-watch it.
And if you are looking to do dinner and a movie, why not make a big pot of New England Boiled Dinner? One of the benefits to working from home is I have time to make recipes like this - and that is my plan for dinner tonight. Can't pull it off tonight? It's delicious at anytime - it is one of my mother-in-law's favorite meals to make when she is entertaining.
And I will leave you with another Irish favorite of mine, a blessing:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And the rain fall soft upon your fields.
