Online Show This Saturday, April 10 - Yay!:)

Hi everyone!

Spring has officially sprung! Whoo-hoo! I have been enjoying spending more time outdoors and my jonquils are blooming a beautiful yellow! And I see more buds, so more flowers are on the way.

Speaking of flowers, I want to share a new song with you, called "Green Eyed Daisy." Click the picture below to see the video. This is from an online performance I did in February with the Linden Tree Coffee House. I think I wrote the song to tap into Daisy's sense of adventure, and I hope you feel that too!

"Daisy" will be on the new album.  There is more than one song on the album that was finished during the pandemic time, and therefore have never been played in front of a live audience. This is one of them, and I can't wait to play it and other new songs for in a room full of people!

Read on below for information about tomorrow night's online show, and other thoughts and musings. And as always, thank you for your support and interest!

:) Kirsten

Upcoming Show

The Sweet Janes Zoom Show - A Virtual Evening with the Sweet Janes
Saturday, April 10 at 8 p.m. (Zoom Room and will be streamed on FB)

The Sweet Janes (MaryBeth Maes, Lori Wadkins and  me) are putting on a zoom show. Although we can't sing and play together, we are excited to swap songs (originals and covers) and have as close to a "live" audience as we can these days. We hope you will join us! The show is free, but pre-registration is required.

I am so looking forward to this show this Saturday. Should be a lot of fun! It will be so nice to see all your faces and hang out with MB and Lori.

Creative Musings

Earth Day takes place in April, and normally Dave Simmons, Jamie Maes, and I would put on a show at the Earth Day celebration in Lynn Woods, here in Massachusetts. Folks come in and clean up the woods, and then enjoy pizza, live music, and usually a nature presentation by the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team. This is the second year we will miss it, and I do miss it.

But I have been thinking about the role nature plays in my creative process. I love to take my notebook outside and sit and watch, and let inspiration come. I think mostly I just feel more connected to the world around me and more grounding. It turns out there is science behind this - I found many articles when I googled, but will share this one, as it is short and sweet.

As we continue into spring and then summer I am going to be more intentional about spending time in nature being creative. Maybe playing or writing, but also getting my hands dirty in the garden. And I am going to continue to try to do my part to be a good steward of the earth, so that we all can enjoy nature for many years to come.

Good Stuff and Mining Country Music's Past

One of the songs Dave, Jamie and I always play at our Earth Day show is this old song from the 80s by John Anderson, called Seminole Wind. John Anderson definitely had some good stuff in the 80s - another favorite of mine is Straight Tequila Night. (This one definitely sounds like a song from the 80s.) :)

Tim (the husband) and I discovered a wonderful place to experience nature and art at the same time: The Andres Institute of Art in Brookline, NH. It's an outdoor sculpture park, and it is free! (Donations accepted.) There are so many wooded trails to follow, and sculptures from all over the world all long the way. I've included a couple of photos, one of Evander (the dog) and I sitting in a sculpture called "Upheaval" by Andy Moerlein of New Hampshire and another of a sculpture called "We Are One Together" by Ennica Mukomberanwa of Zimbabwe. It is definitely a cool place to check out!
