Radio Happenings, Shows and More - August Newsletter

Hello all!

I hope this email finds you well! It finds me grateful, as Blossom in the Sun continues its journey through world. Some very nice things have happened, and I am humbled and thankful.

Paul Hitchcock, host of Muddy Bottom Blues on WMKY in Kentucky, programmed a whole hour long show around my music, playing selections from all three of my solo albums at the end of July. I heard from people near and far who tuned in, which was a lot of fun.

It's also fun for me to be on the Top 30 most played albums on WERU in Maine this week, as that station has a cool history. Noel "Paul" Stookey of Peter, Paul, and Mary is one of the founders of that station, and it has a very thoughtful mission, vision, and values.

I have also pre-recorded a radio interview for a program called Song of the Soul. It is a syndicated program and I'm yet sure exactly when it will air. But I will keep you posted. I had a great time conversing with the host, Mark Helpsmeet.

Upcoming show info is below, as well as links to the album and lyric videos. Thank you again for all the support and interest! It means the world to me. :)

Creative Musings

I always have too many creative ideas. Sometimes that means too many song ideas at one time. Other times that mean too many creative ideas in general - I want to write something, and I want to put together a new show, and I want to do a creative project in my house, etc. I am especially feeling that way right now, with the album complete and out in the world.

I know my friends also have this issue, and a quick google search shows that it is not uncommon. One on hand this is definitely a good thing, right? Right. But, it can also cause stagnation - if you feel overwhelmed and don't know what to start with, you end up not starting at all. And that doesn't feel good either.

The key is to figure out what to focus on first. There are many different ideas about how to do this. One concept I like is to pay attention to how each idea makes me feel. And if there is one I am most excited about, I will start with that. So I guess that is what I need to do in the next few weeks.

And I have learned the starting is usually more than half the battle - but that's a whole subject for another Creative Musings.  :)

Good Stuff

My husband Tim Foley is working on his second album - no release date set yet, but it is well on its way. I will be excited to share that with you when it comes out. But at the moment, I wanted to let you know about his first album, recorded before I met him. It is all instrumental, and is aptly titled Instrumental. It is a lovely, relaxing album of all original music. Perfect for lazy summer evenings. It is available on Bandcamp. Please check it out!
