Some Reviews, and Upcoming Shows - September Newsletter

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a nice end to your summer. I love these early September days, when it nice and warm during the day, but cools down at night. It's a lovely transition into the crisp days of autumn.

I continue to be grateful for the ways in which Blossom in the Sun is traveling through the world. Here is a a quick snapshot view of some of the latest news:

I'm so thankful people are connecting with this album. And I am looking forward to continue connecting with folks out at live shows. I saw so many of you this summer that I hadn't seen in quite a while. Show info is below, as usual. Thank you all for your continued support!

:) Kirsten

Creative Musings

I have always loved to read, every since I was a little girl. Back then I devoured the Little House series, and Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume books, among many others. Now I read a mix of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. I will just wander the library and choose books that sound interesting. I do pick a few duds every now and then, but for the most part I end up enjoying a good read.

Reading definitely sparks my creativity - I have more than one song that was inspired by a turn of the phrase I read in a book or newspaper. And studies have shown it enhances creativity in general. It exercises the brain, and activates the parts that enable creativity.

Unfortunately, there are periods in my life in which my to-do list doesn't seem to leave time for reading. Readying the album was one of those, but now I have a new stack of books from the library waiting for me, and I intend to work my way through them. Maybe some inspiration will strike, and I will have a new song soon as well!

Good Stuff

My introduction to Olivia Newton-John happened in the early 80s, when I was 7 or 8 years old. This was during the time she was recording her pop songs, such as "Physical" and "Heart Attack." I loved what I heard, and one of my first records was her Greatest Hits Volume II. My dad, taking note of my interest in her, told me she had recorded country music years before. (I was already a big fan of country music by then.) So I went to the library and found some older records of hers and brought them home. And these I really loved. "Please, Mr. Please" and "Let Me There" are still some of my favorite songs. One of the records from the library was her first Greatest Hits album. After she passed a few weeks ago, I went to a used record store with the goal of finding that record. I did, and am currently listening to it as I write this. If you are looking for some good stuff, I definitely recommend Olivia Newton-John's Greatest Hits. RIP.
