Jimmy Tingle, Methuen, Sharon and Potpourri Info - October Newsletter

Hi everyone,

I had a ton of fun at my September shows. Thank you to the new folks who joined this list, and to all who came out to listen.

I only have one show this month, opening for Jimmy Tingle on the 15th in Westford, MA (info below), but I have a couple of cool shows lined up in November, and the info for those is included below as well.

And in December I will again be hosting the Winter Potpourri at the Linden Tree Coffee House in Wakefield. If you are a singer/songwriter and are interested in possibly participating, click here for more info.

Hope to see you out at a show, and thank you for your interest and support!

:) Kirsten

Creative Musings

I used to meditate on the regular. (Is that still a thing - to say on the regular? Or does my use
of it confirm I am completely un-hip?) Anyway, because of some life circumstances and busy schedules, that is no longer the case. And I just can't seem to get motivated to start up again. I get myself to exercise, I get myself to pick up the house, but on this I am stuck. And I know it helps my creativity. When I meditate I am more focused throughout the day, and I can get more done, which leaves more time for creative work. I also feel like I am more receptive and open to ideas when I am meditating regularly.

So I am giving myself a challenge. Between now and the end of the month I am going to try to meditate for at least 5 minutes every day. I should be able to find at least 5 minutes per day. I will let you know how I do in the next newsletter. And hopefully these few weeks at 5 minutes per day will end up being a start to again meditating regularly (or on the regular, as the cool kids say.) :)

Good Stuff

Sticking with the meditation theme, I really loved the book 10% Happier. I read it years ago, when it still fairly new and enjoyed it immensely. Dan Harris's journey from meditation skeptic to convert is fun and informative. Since then he has founded the 10% Happier app, which is devoted to meditation of all kinds. It has a beginners course for free, as well as few free 10-day meditation challenges every year. So if you have never meditated and are curious, or are like me and trying to jump start a practice that has been paused, definitely check out 10% Happier for some inspiration and motivation!
