Coming out of hibernation mode - February Newsletter

Hello all,

Well, I know February is a short month anyway, but this one really flew by!

I have slowly started to come out of hibernation mode. And things are starting to happen. I have all but one flute part recorded for the new CD, and then we will finish up the mixing, move onto the mastering, and then we'll send it to the duplicator. It's exciting to see and hear these songs really come together. There are two waltzes in the album (I love waltzes!). For a listen to to one of them,     Breaking Me, click here.

I have also been working on creating some new things! I pulled together a draft of a brand new song last night (not quite ready for public consumption) and have been writing some more Insta-poetry. Here is a piece I just posted this morning.

Finally, I have been putting some shows in place. Starting at the end of March and heading into the summer I am looking forward to getting back out there! I will fill you in on all the details in a couple of weeks.

:) Kirsten

Creative Musings

Have I talked about my coloring book? It was given to me as a birthday gift by a dear friend, and I love it. I am not a visual artist by any means, but the book gives me a way to be creative with absolutely no pressure. No one will see these pages, and I can do whatever I feel like, just for the fun of it. Writing songs is fun too, of course, but because I eventually want to play them for people, and have them feel something, I can sometimes forget that it should be fun. The coloring book reminds me. And if I am feeling stuck creatively, it gives me an easy way to get the juices flowing again, without any sort of expectation.

And you definitely don't need a fancy coloring book for adults, and fancy colored pencils! You can go buy a kiddie coloring book at the supermarket and a box of crayons. I have done that more than once, before I was gifted this latest book. I highly recommend coloring as a way to relax, and to get into a creative flow!

Good Stuff

I haven't shared any recipes with you lately, but I have definitely been eating some good food! One of my favorite things in winter is  big bowl of lentil soup. And this is my go to recipe. I think it is the lemon and the cumin that make the difference for me. Plus it is straightforward and pretty easy, and doesn't take all that long. Hope you enjoy!
