New Christmas Single Today, Hancock Depot and Winter Potpourri

Hello all,

What a pleasure it was to play a show with Susan Levine and Grace Morrison at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall last month. The space is just magnificent, and the audience wonderful. The photo to the left will give you an idea of the beauty and scale of the organ that is there. Thank you to all who came, and welcome and thank you to those folks who are new to this list. I very much appreciate your interest and support.

My new Christmas single releases today, entitled "Christmas Lights Come Down." The link leads you to Bandcamp, but you can listen anywhere music is sold. I'm excited to send this song out into the world. I wrote it with my friend Janet Cohen, and it's a song the reflects a bit on the twinges of sadness that we can feel, even during this festive season. I hope you like it!

I've got a couple of fun shows coming up. One in Hancock, NH and then the return of the Winter Potpourri at the Linden Tree Coffee House. Information is below!

And here is another reminder about my lyric greeting cards - both holiday and non-holiday versions are available. If you know of someone who loves stationery, the cards are a great gift, or if you are looking for some cards to add to your own stash, please take a look. The proceeds are donated to Girls Behind the Rock Show.

I hope you all have a wonderful and joyous holiday season!

:) Kirsten

The Winter Potpourri returns, after a covid pause! Eight acts will be showcased, and I will play a featured set in the middle. Come on out and catch some talent that may be new to you!

I have been out and about more lately, seeing live music. It has been really wonderful - it feels like the "before times." :)  It also has been very inspiring. When I hear a song I really like, it makes me want to go home and start working on new material. I also get ideas for songs at shows all the time. I think it's because I am listening so intently. The performer will say something on stage that gives me a lyric idea, or a chord progression catches my interest and I will wonder what I could do with the progression myself.

It's been a reminder that creativity is truly a give and take process. And by take, I mean more like "take in." We have to stop and take in other people's creative output. It's important for us, and it's important for them. By experiencing other people's art, we are re-energized to make our own, and then offer it back. And so the cycle continues. So if you want to be inspired, I would recommend instead of sitting alone in a room with a notebook, go out and take in someone else's art - it's part of the process.

Good Stuff

Pistol Annies released a holiday album last year, of almost all original holiday songs. True to their brand, the songs are a mix of witty, irreverent and touching. Two of my favorites are "Snow Globe" and "Make You Blue." If you're looking for some new holiday music with some definite country twang, be sure to check it out.
